Professor Chris Hollis

Chris Hollis

Chris Hollis is Chair of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Digital Mental Health at the University of Nottingham; Honorary Consultant in Developmental Neuropsychiatry with Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust; Director of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) MindTech MedTech Cooperative and NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre Mental Health and Technology Theme Lead. He is Co-Director of the £4M Medical Research Council (MRC) Digital Youth programme. As a clinician, Chris leads the Developmental Neuropsychiatry Tic Disorder Service at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham.  As Director of MindTech, Chris is passionate about implementing evidence-based digital mental healthcare to improve patient outcomes and drive service efficiencies by bringing together patients, clinicians, academics and industry/technology developers.

He was Principal Investigator on the HTA ORBIT trial (Online Remote Behavioural Intervention for Tics; Hollis et al. Lancet Psychiatry, 2021) and is leading the ORBIT PDA i4i with Dr Charlotte Hall.  He holds a prestigious two-term NIHR Senior Investigator Award.

Charlotte is a Principal Research Fellow working within the NIHR MindTech-MedTech Cooperative and Biomedical Research Centre at the University of Nottingham. Charlotte is co-leading ORBIT with Prof Chris Hollis, and leads work package one (project management) and four (clinical study). Charlotte has a keen interest in exploring how digital interventions can be used to improve the assessment and treatment of mental health disorders in children and young people. Charlotte managed the NIHR HRA ORBIT-Trial, a large randomised controlled trial evaluating online therapy for tic disorders. Charlotte is also co-investigator on the INTEND study, led by Dr Maddie Groom, which aims to develop a service model for tic disorders in England and is exploring how to improve GPs knowledge and confidence in tic disorders.

 

Kelly-Marie Prentice - Project and Implementation Senior Manager for ORBIT

Kelly Prentice

Kelly-Marie is a project management professional with specific experience in digital technology implementations in the private sector, local government and the NHS. Having worked for the Health Innovation Network, Kelly-Marie has experience in developing commercialisation and adoption strategies and has developed an extensive network of stakeholders. Kelly-Marie supports the day-to-day project management of the ORBIT Project including creating the project plan and coordinating aims, objectives and deliverables, assembling the study team into a cohesive unit, monitoring resourcing needs throughout the course of the project, reviewing and tracking risks for study timeline delivery, implementing risk mitigation strategies and ensuring quality data collection and robust documentation.

Joe Kilgariff

 Joe Kilgariff

Joe Kilgariff works as a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Neuro-Developmental psychiatry for Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS trust. His post includes a number of roles involved in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of Neurodevelopmental conditions such including Tourette Syndrome and comorbidities.  As an independent Non-Medical Prescriber Joe specialises in practising both psychological and  pharmacological therapy to ensures a holistic approach to children’s Mental health conditions.  Joe co-leads Work Package 5, exploring the service pathway and clinical product.

Dr Roy Harris

Dr Roy Harris is a MedTech product development specialist with over 40 years' experience in innovative medical technology research and IP management and commercialisation. He has headed up research groups in the industry, set up his own MedTech company developing advanced wound dressings and spent eight years as Head of IP and Commercialisation for NUH NHS Trust R&I in Nottingham. He spent three years as a Research Business Manager in the School of medicine, University of Nottingham, before taking up his current position of senior adviser for translational research, for NIHR Research Support Services.

Bethan Davies

 Bethan Davies

Bethan Davies works as a Senior Research Fellow within the NIHR Mindtech research group at the University of Nottingham. She is a chartered research psychologist with a background in health psychology. Bethan had a lead role in the original development and evaluation of the ORBIT intervention, involving working closely with researchers in Sweden who originally developed and tested the intervention in adapting it for children and young people in the UK, and was one of the assistant psychologists involved in the ORBIT RCT.

 

Dr Camilla Babbage

Camilla Babbage is an early-career researcher, at MindTech, University of Nottingham. Camilla completed her PhD which explored the development of an app to support wellbeing in young people who have Tourette Syndrome, which included working with parents and young people. Since then, Camilla has been involved in supporting the development of NICE guidelines alongside the TS steering group. Camilla is also a researcher and Trial Manager on the Digital Youth project, working with young people with mental health difficulties exploring the development and implementation of interventions into healthcare services. Camilla is passionate about integrating PPI input throughout research, from development, data collection, analysis to infographic and media creation.

 

Tara Murphy

Tara is a Consultant Psychologist who coleads the Tic Service at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, UK. Tara has worked in tic services since 2003 and has developed services, treatments, made documentaries, written books and been involved in research in Tourette syndrome.  She was a co-applicant on the NIHR HRA ORBIT-Trial, a large randomised controlled trial evaluating online therapy for tic disorders in the UK and it’s sister trial at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. Tara is most closely involved in work package 5 exploring the service pathway and clinical product in the current study.  Tara is also a co-applicant on the INTEND study, led by Dr Maddie Groom and Dr Charlotte Hall, which aims to develop a service model for tic disorders in England.

Nada is a Senior Commercial Project Lead within Health Innovation East Midlands. Working as part of the Commercial Partnerships Function, driving the take-up of innovations into the healthcare system and leading on innovation projects designed to deliver improvements in clinical outcomes and stimulate economic growth. PRINCE2 and MSP Practitioner with MSc in Project Management and extensive experience in Transformation and Programme Management. With demonstrable track record of successful NHS programme delivery, Nada support projects to innovators from Academia, Healthcare system and private sector. Recognised as a proactive, conscientious, efficient individual who always perform under pressure, to tight timelines. Specialises in leading teams and stakeholders and develops strong partnerships to enhance collaboration and spread innovation across organisations

 

Chris Greenhalgh

 Chris Greenhalgh

Chris Greenhalgh is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Nottingham, where he is a co-founder of the Mixed Reality Laboratory. His research interests are at the intersection of human-computer interaction and distributed systems. He has a particular interest in creating platforms and tools that enable non-programmers to use emerging technologies and create engaging experiences, with applications in music and performance, and mental health and wellbeing.

Janet Bouttell

Dr Janet Bouttell is a health economist who has worked extensively with developers of health technologies at the early stages of development.  Janet works at the Centre for Healthcare Equipment and Technology Adoption (CHEATA) based in the Clinical Engineering Department of Nottingham University Hospitals acute NHS trust.  Janet is co-chair of an HTAi working group on the terminology of early HTA, a member of the evidence review panel for the Scottish Health Technologies Group and sits on the Research for Patient Benefit grant committee for the East Midlands.  Janet will be undertaking the health economic analysis in connection with this project.

Olivia Hastings

Olivia is a research assistant at the NIHR MindTech HealthTech Research Centre (Institute of Mental Health, University of Nottingham) where she is primarily working on the ORBIT project. Olivia is an early career researcher with experience working on randomised controlled trials to test the efficacy of novel mental health interventions. She will primarily be supporting the development of the ORBIT technical platform and assisting in carrying out a clinical study to assess feasibility.

Dr Jonny Gibbons

 jonny gibbons

Jonny is the Technology Transfer Officer for this project, and will be responsible for managing intellectual property and the downstream commercialisation of ORBIT. He has worked in university technology transfer for 8 years, first at Imperial College London, and subsequently the University of Nottingham, in both cases, specialising in healthcare and life sciences technologies. Prior to that, he worked for a boutique management consultancy firm specialising in the Health and Social Care sector.

 

Michael Craven

Mike is Principal Research Fellow at the NIHR MindTech HealthTech Research Centre (Institute of Mental Health, University of Nottingham) where he specialises in methodology and applied research in the co-design and evaluation of digital health and medical device interventions. He has over 30 years’ experience in research and teaching in the areas of healthcare technology assessment, electronic engineering and computer science. He is a member of the Faculty of Engineering’s Human Factors Research Group and has a bank Health Economist role in Clinical Engineering at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. In the ORBIT study Mike leads WP6 which will develop the Value Proposition for the platform. Research details can be found via ORCID.

 

Dr Sarah Bolton

Sarah is the Business Manager at CHEATA, a part of NUH NHS Trust, which supports med-tech developers to gather evidence for NHS. She is responsible for the day-to-day running of CHEATA in addition to selected project delivery including value propositions, literature searches and clinical evaluation reports. Prior to CHEATA, Sarah was responsible for Healthcare and Medical Devices at Pera Technology. She has a PhD in Biochemistry and carried out post-doctoral research at Oxford and Leicester Universities before spending over 10 years at AstraZeneca as an Experimental Pathologist in the Respiratory and Inflammation Therapy area. Sarah will support WP6-9.

 

Dr. Glenn McGarry

Dr Glenn McGarry is a Research Fellow in the School of Computer Science’s Mixed Reality Lab, working in the interdisciplinary field of Human-Computer Interaction. His research interests centre on music technologies and his work in this area has been published in a leading international conference CSCW.  He is experienced in working with systems designers, which involves presenting field study findings, working through their implications for design, and formulating design specifications. Glenn’s role as a Research Associate on this project is to support the elicitation of user and system requirements to inform the development of the ORBIT platform.
