Research

The Institute of Mental Health is a unique partnership between Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Nottingham. We bring together healthcare staff and academics to lead mental health research designed to improve diagnosis, treatment, and care.

We have eight centres of excellence, each focusing on a different area of mental health research - you can explore their work and find out more about the teams behind the research by using the menu on the left hand side.

 

Alongside our centres of excellence, we also have many established research networks and groups which are based at the Institute. We also host, or support, several major research infrastructure programmes (see left hand side menu) and we are a designated World Health Organization Collaborating Centre.

 

World Health Organization Collaborating Centre

The Centre for Mental Health and Human Rights at the Institute of Mental Health is a World Health Organization (WHO) collaborating centre on Mental Health, Disabilities and Human Rights.

WHO collaborating centres are institutions such as research institutes, parts of universities or academies, which are designated by the WHO’s Director-General to carry out activities in support of the Organization's programmes. Currently there are over 800 WHO collaborating centres across the globe, working with WHO on areas such as nursing, occupational health, communicable diseases, nutrition, mental health, chronic diseases and health technologies. Collaborating centres represent a valuable resource as an extended and integral arm of WHO’s capacity to implement its mandated work.

East Midlands Evidence Repository

The East Midlands Evidence Repository (EMER) is the official institutional research repository for Derbyshire Community Health Services, Leicester Partnership Trust, NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Sherwood Forest Hospitals, University Hospitals of Derby and Burton and the University Hospitals Of Leicester

EMER is intended to make NHS research more visible and discoverable by capturing, storing and preserving the East Midlands research output and making it available to the research community through open access protocols.

Wherever possible, full-text content is provided for all research publications in the repository. Content grows daily as new collections are added.
