A survey of the effects of home-schooling on children and parents’ mental health, well-being and family functioning, during school closures due to COVID-19.

This is part of an international study led by collaborators in Sweden and Germany. Dr Maddie Groom is the UK lead collaborator. The findings have been shared with schools so that they can use this information to adapt/refine the support they provide to parents and children during home-schooling.

The survey included questions about mental health, special educational needs and cognitive difficulties that parents or children may be struggling with, so the researchers will be able to help schools identify how best to support these children and families.

The findings have been published in European Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
