Dr Elizabeth Liddle is Associate Professor in Translational Mental Health.

She uses a range of methods for investigating the brain processes that allow us to control our attention and actions, including functional brain imaging, electrophysiology and eye-tracking. Her work mainly focuses translating insights from neuroscience into therapeutic training programs to help people with ADHD and other conditions that that affect attention and self-regulation, such as psychosis. Her interests include the role of oculomotor difficulties (control over where you are looking) in ADHD, as well as difficulties with autonomic control (e.g. control over the “fight or flight” response). She leads the development of RECOGNeyes, an eyetracker-based computer game designed to help improve attention and self-regulation in young people with ADHD. RECOGNeyes was developed in collaboration with teachers and young people with ADHD. A forthcoming school-based trial will test its feasibility as a school-based resource to support children who show signs of ADHD.
