Project Jugaad is exploring mental health and resilience narratives of migrants in India using community theatre methodology.

Aim: This innovative, inter-disciplinary and collaborative global public health partnership aims to explore the mental health challenges and opportunities for resilience for internal migrants in Pune, India using theatre storytelling practices. The project focuses on the co-creation of mental health and resilience knowledge for raising mental health awareness and support through community theatre engagement with migrant slum dwellers.

Funding: The study is funded by the AHRC/MRC as part of the Global Challenges Research Fund.

Principal researcher: Professor Raghu Raghavan (Leicester De Montfort).

Timescales: The project commenced on 1 November 2017.

Partners: The project partners include UK and Indian academic researchers, community theatre groups, migrant communities, government agencies and public health non-governmental organisations.
