Dr Briley is an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow. He has a PhD in Psychology and a BMBS in Medicine from the University of Nottingham.

Dr Briley studies brain signatures of mood disorders and fundamental brain mechanisms underlying psychosis using non-invasive methods such as electroencephalography (EEG), magnetoencephalography (MEG), and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).

He also works on the BRIGhTMIND trial of TMS brain stimulation for treatment-resistant depression and is developing approaches for personalising TMS therapy by aligning stimulation to the natural rhythms of the brain measured with EEG.
