Richard Morriss MB ChB, MMedSci, MD, FRCPsych is Professor of Psychiatry and Community Mental Health, University of Nottingham and Honorary Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Appointed in 2006, he leads the Centre for Mood Disorders at the Institute of Mental Health. He is also a current NIHR Senior Investigator, the Adult Mental Health and Well-being Theme Lead for the NIHR East Midlands Applied Research Centre, the Adult Mental Health Theme Lead for the national NIHR MindTech MedTech and In Vitro Centre, a deputy theme lead for the Nottingham NIHR Biomedical Research Centre Mental Health and Technology, and a mental health lead for the Nottingham NIHR Primary Care School.

His interests are in relation to clinical research aspects of bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety and the cross over with physical health in all types of clinical setting. Recent focus has been on new technologies including neuromodulation, digital assessment and delivery of treatment and research, and the clinical use of informatics as well as more traditional drug and psychological treatments.
