The Institute is working with the Independent Office for Police Conduct (formerly the Independent Police Complaints Commission), to explore the confidence of people with mental health concerns in accessing and engaging with the police complaints system.

The project launches in 2018 and is being led by Professor Eddie Kane, director of the Centre for Health and Justice, and Dr Louise Thomson, academic lead of the research support and consultancy service. The team will conduct a national survey and in-depth focus groups with people with lived experience in England and Wales.
