Orii McDermott, PhD, is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Mental Health and a visiting researcher for the Doctoral Programme in Music Therapy, Aalborg University.

She specialises in dementia psychosocial research, music therapy and music-based interventions and outcome measures development and evaluation. She is an Associate Editor for the Nordic Journal of Music Therapy and serves on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Music Therapy, Music & Science and Aging & Mental Health. She continues to work as a music therapist in Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust.
