9th April 2025, 11:30 - 12:30

Speaker: Dr Michael Craven & Prof. Tom Dening

This joint talk aims to summarise some of the learning from the EU Research Innovation and Staff Exchange programme ‘Designing for People with Dementia – Mindful Self-empowerment and social engagement (MinD)’.

From 2016-2020 MinD brought together various design professions & architects with healthcare professionals and researchers, working alongside experts by experience, to develop and apply co-design methodologies on new designs from concept to prototype. It realised guidelines, policy and several tools, a published book and a new boardgame ‘All about us’. Mike is Principal Research Fellow in the MindTech HealthTech Research Centre and Tom is Professor of Dementia Research, both based at the Institute of Mental Health and in the Centre for Dementia. They will discuss findings from MinD in the areas of co-design principles and practice, evaluation models and their application.

MinD received its funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 691001.
