A survey of parents’ experience of home schooling during COVID-19 was launched in May 2020. The survey was part of an international study led by collaborators in Sweden and Germany. Dr Maddie Groom, Associate Director of CANDAL and Associate Professor in Applied Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience is the lead collaborator for the UK.

Over the last few months, Dr Maddie Groom and Iman Idrees, an Applied Psychology PhD student at the University of Nottingham, have been working on the project and they have now collected 511 responses within the UK. A text summary of their main findings is currently in the works and will be shared with participating schools.The survey included questions about mental health and cognitive difficulties that parents or children may be struggling with, so the researchers will be able to help schools identify how best to support these children and families.The survey was open to all UK parents, including university staff and students.
