A new systematic review written by members of CANDAL has been published in Neuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews January 2020 issue.

"Is autonomic nervous system function atypical in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)? A systematic review of the evidence" was written by members of CANDAL: Alessio Bellato, Iti Arora, Chris Hollis and Maddie Groom. 

Alessio and team carried out a literature review of 55 studies investigating electro-dermal, heart rate and pupillometry measures under different experimental conditions (resting-state, cognitive tasks and in response to reinforcers or socio-emotional stimuli).

The review discusses symptoms of ADHD which may be associated with a general difficulty in regulating physiological arousal and directing energetic resources to environmental demands. Although previous studies reported findings in line with this idea, a clear difference between individuals with and without ADHD was not found.
