NIHR Learn

If you are looking for learning and training resources for Public and Patient Involvement it is helpful to know what is already in the public domain and created before looking to invest time, effort and resources on duplicating training information.

The National Institute for Health and Care Research, with it’s Centre for Engagement and Dissemination, has created a website dedicated to learning and development for public involvement in health and social care research and you can find more information on their website.

The Public Involvement Lead of the Institute of Mental Health is registered on the website and will also share our own training resources to the repository when applicable, to ensure what we develop and consider good practice is shared wider than our own stakeholders – for the benefit of good public involvement.

How Clinical Research in the UK is organised

Here is a YouTube video created by the National Institute for Health and Care Research. It explains how clinical research is managed, led, funded and organised in the UK. If you would like to know more about the organisation that goes on in the background to manage, administrate, govern and approve research projects within the UK then this 7 minute long video will help with your understanding. It will explain more about acronyms you may have heard such as Health Research Agency (HRA) and CRN (Clinical Research Network).

Peer Researcher training

Our Public Involvement Lead alongside the Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust's Research Delivery team have begun delivering their Peer Researcher training following a recent commission by Nottingham City Council. If you are interested in us delivering and developing peer researcher training for your own projects, activities and services then please get in touch with the Public Involvement Lead to find our more and discuss your requirements.
