Esmée is British Mauritian and has recently moved to the UK after spending most of her life in Mauritius and Continental Europe. Due to tragic family circumstances, she became a carer from a young age and as a result, developed an interest in the welfare of young carers, complex childhood trauma, Parkinson’s disease, neurodiversity, and dementia.

She qualified as a UKCP reg. psychotherapist in her 40s and became an EMDR practitioner. She also works part-time as a senior company secretary for an IT multinational. She brings to the PPI Advisory Group her experience of mental health services as a carer, volunteer, and psychotherapist in the countries where she has lived. She has a keen interest in mental health recovery research.
